DAY 1. /03 JUL/Arrival in Ulaanbaatar

Upon arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel for a relaxing stay. Embark on a city tour that includes visits to significant landmarks such as the Gandan Monastery, where you can witness local prayers, observe monks, and marvel at the largest indoor Buddha statue. Explore the National Museum of Mongolia, which showcases the country’s rich cultural heritage spanning from the Stone Age to the present day. Finally, visit Sukhbaatar Square, also known as Chingis Khaan Square, a central gathering point of historical and cultural importance. Enjoy the tour and indulge in a delightful lunch/dinner.

DAY 2. /04 JUL/Gobi Gurvan Saikhan National Park

Fly to Dalanzadgad town, the central town of South Gobi province. From there, drive to Yol Valley, also known as Vulture Valley, located in the Gobi Gurvan Saikhan Mountain National Park (28km). This captivating canyon, nestled in the heart of the park, boasts narrow pathways that widen intermittently between magnificent rock formations. Above, you’ll witness the graceful flight of buzzards and eagles against the backdrop of the clear blue skies.

The canyon’s towering cliffs obstruct sunlight from reaching the rivers below, resulting in their frozen state until late June. DAY 6. /08 JUL/Explore Ancient Capital City of Mongol Empire - Kharkhorin

Embark on a scenic drive to Kharkhorin, located approximately 130 kilometers away. Kharkhorin holds the ruins of the ancient capital of the Mongol Empire, which was established by King Ugudei in 1235. Strategically positioned at the intersection of traditional routes, the city served as a vital hub for migrating nomads and merchant caravans. It also welcomed foreign envoys and esteemed clerics who sought audiences with the Mongol Empire’s king.

Despite its eventual destruction by Manchu soldiers after the capital was moved to Beijing by Khubilai Khaan in 1264, the remnants of Kharkhorin still hold immense historical significance. The bricks and stones salvaged from the city’s ruins were repurposed to construct the nearby Erdene Zuu Monastery, a majestic landmark that you will have the opportunity to visit. This park is renowned for being home to the takhi, also known as the Przewalski horse, which is the only remaining species of truly wild horse in the world. These remarkable creatures were reintroduced to Mongolia from zoos and reserves worldwide in 1992, and Khustai National Park provides them with a natural habitat to thrive.
